Spent a lovely evening at Sunnyside watching the hotties play beach volleyball and enjoying some much needed rays. There is nothing so satisfying as hanging out with good friends, some casual food, and watching the world walk by. With so few nights like this in the past months, it is so precious to get out while you can.
Sunnyside is one the city's hidden treasures. Mind you judging by the number of dog walkers, rollerbladers, family picnickers, and joggers I guess the secret is getting out. Whenever I get too sucked into thoughts that our city council doesn't do enough or even get what this city is all about, I just need to take a long walk off a short pier (so to speak), and come down to Sunnyside to see how we as a community benefit from the city's dedication to make our waterfront an asset.
Having access to water is so important to me. I grew up on Lake Huron and have been spoiled ever since with incredible views of oceans, rivers and bays. I love to be able to walk along the water's edge and look out to the horizon. It is so calming to see the edge of the world curl down out of view over the waves. It makes me feel connected and isolated all at the same time.

Where in the world to go?
I have been remiss to keep this blog well posted. I have been focused on where in the world to spend my one-year sabbatical (this is virtually the first time I am writing those words in a public space). I have been toying with the idea for some time now, but it is slowly becoming a reality.
This is a general shout out to all of you to tell me where to go? I mean that in a nice way - I already know where you want me to go on a daily basis!!

Ribfest rookie
Ok, so the thought of going to a local park for a BBQ is generally something that everyone can take in stride. No need to panic. On Sunday I went to my first Ribfest in Centennial Park, Etobicoke. I will never be the same...
There was every imaginable BBQ specialist on the scene - for as far as the eye could see, there was luscious lip-smacking, finger-licking, juices-dripping-from-your-chin, BBQ goodness. Where have I been living all this time, that I have never been to a Ribfest before. Oh what a sheltered life I have led.
When we arrived, we divided and conquered. I went for one style of ribs, Celia went for another, Dorothy got the butterfly fries, Sal grabbed the beers and Katheryn and Mike went off for their own wander (wink wink). We all met back at the picnic tables and got stuck in.
The sunny was screaming hot - the music entertainment not so much. That didn't matter, 'cuz there was smoked and sauced up meat everywhere. After a respectable digestion period we then finished off our feast with Tiny Tom donuts. All was good in the world at that moment.

Technology rocks or sucks...
it is all in your perspective. And how much time you have invested in the activity when the page times out.
Let's hope this mail-to-blog works...
Whoo Hoo! Looks like I may be the geek my friend's always accuse me to be.

And so this adventure begins...
This is the first entry of my new blog, where I hope to capture all my many adventures.
I will be the first to admit that I am not sure what that really means, but I am going to throw myself into finding out. Feel free to add your two cents. All suggestions welcome.
